Mediterranean strength

Huge waves break their way before crashing against the volcanic rocks of the coast of Cabo de Gata. Using exposure times of 1/1000 s or more, choosing an appropriate point of view, allowing us to look «into the waves», an interesting base composition that will change with each wave, dedication and some luck can allow us to capture images like this. Burst shooting is also very useful in these cases.

Full frame camera, 24-70 mm lens f:2.8, at 50 mm, 800 ISO, F:11 and 1/1250 seconds,  polarizing filter

Sandstone curves

Water erosion and the onslaught and the sanding of the winds have created during many years this beautiful sandstone artwork. I have photographed this apparent including some small stones fallen from the wall, to facilitate any hints about the dimensions of the set, something highly recommended when it comes to abstract images.

Photo taken with digital camera, 24-70 mm f:2.8 lens, at F:14, 100 ISO, 1/20 second, polarizing filter, tripod.

Marine fury

A scene reflecting the sea in an enraged State, accented by the sky and its texture. To obtain a single successful image, in these situations we need to take numerous shots, given that every moment is a different combination of waves in the sea and swaying on the waterfront, as well as the stones in the foreground.

Photo taken with digital camera, 15 mm f:2.4 lens, at F:10, 800 ISO, 1/640 second, polarizing filter, tripod.

«Raging sea»

An image portraying the sea in its rougher state, with the waves whipped up by one of the numerous wintry gales, pouncing on the volcanic coast.

Made with digital camera, 24 – 70 mm lens F:2.8, at 100 ISO, F:11 and 2 seconds,  polarizing and grey filter.

«River of colours»

«River of colours»

An image of the singular Rio Tinto in Huelva, Andalusia, realized in good company during a photography workshop organized by Al Andalus Photo Tour in one of the most natural and wild areas of the river. The author tried to find a balance between elements and colours, using also the fleeting passage of high clouds in the atmosphere.

Taken with Full Frame camera, lens 24-70 mm F: 2. 8 at 28 mm, 100 ISO and F.16 and 1/8 s and polarizing filter.

WORKSHOP CABO DE GATA

The Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata is famous for its nature and unspoilt beaches as well as its lovely bays, surrounded by interesting volcanic formations.

It is also one of the driest areas of Europe and this climate, along with its geology has created one of the most beautiful coasts of the peninsula. We visit its most emblematic coves, with its sand dunes and interesting rock formations, passing through salt mines where we can spot flamingos and picturesque fishing villages. In definitive a place offering great opportunities both for photography, walking and excursions.

About the places to visit:

In this photography workshop, covering both the landscape and night photography, we visit the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata, famous for its nature and unspoilt beaches as well as its lovely bays, surrounded by interesting volcanic formations.

In short, a place that offers great photographic opportunities, both for landscape and night photography.

About the workshops:

The trips and workshops are taught by two teachers with demonstrated experience in landscape and night photography, and are suitable for a wide audience; from those wanting to  know and visit interesting places, the enthusiastic amateur trying to improve his skills up to the professional who seeks to expand his photographic portfolio.

The workshops seek to familiarize participants with different theoretical and practical aspects of the photography of night and landscape photography and prepare them for the different situations and possibilities on the landscapes.

Several photography manuals are provided to students in the course. Apart from the essential technical part the workshops emphasize much on the subject of the composition as well as on the language of artistic expression and on the creative empowerment.

The photographic excursions are focused on learning and applying the concepts previously discussed in the theoretical workshops, apart from showing participants spectacular places from the, cultural, natural  and scenic point of view and spend a pleasant stay in them, accompanied by two photographic experts who know the area and who are fully available for any questions and advice.

The workshop includes in addition viewings of the work carried out by the students, in which technical and aesthetic aspects of the images are discussed, accompanied by advice on how to improve in both aspects.

Although it is not essential to assist, it is recommended to go with basic knowledge of photography and DSLR camera, tripod and filters to take advantage of the workshops.

Polarizing filters and the neutral grey filter of a minimum of 6 stops are helpful for this landscape photography.

Observation: The realization of the photographs depends quite a lot of the weather on the ground. Andalusia has a good climate with many sunny hours and few days of rain, however the weather can vary.

Andalus Phototour reserves the right to modify schedules and routes where circumstances do require (e.g.. Rain, bad state access roads) for the benefit of the participants and their photos.
