“Nightly Magic”

An image which composition was evocative for me, especially by the presence of the Moon in a quite adequate place, which is also an element difficult to portray. The closeness of the Cork oak trees forced me to shoot with a rather wide angle, what caused the Moon to come out quite small. However this tiny moon enhanced quite well the large size of the Oak trees contributing to the magic atmosphere of the scene.

Made with an Analogue Camera Praktica Super TL , with a 28 mm F:2,8 Sigma lens, at F:16, 2  seconds exposure time,  at ISO 50 (Velvia) forced to 100 .

“Night visit”

An appearance of a curious Fox specimen, when performing a session of night photography with the last light of the “blue hour” at this emblematic rock figure in the Torcal de Antequera. I was trying to include the moon as highlighted element in the composition, when suddenly a new protagonist appeared, and during the few moments of its presence, I could “freeze” it with the help of the flash, with the luck that it was positioned more or less in the ideal place of the composition.

Made with Digital Camera, with a 10 – 20 mm lens, at F:11  a 10 (16)mm,  200 ISO, flash and polarizing filter.

“The King´s little pathway”

“The King´s little pathway”

Here a portrait of this pathway at the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, before it was restored to become a place of  “pilgrimage” where nowadays people walk in large rows, with previous appointment and payment, perhaps impressive for the person who comes for the first time, in contrast, too much “theme park” for those that visited this place previously.

Made with an analogue camera Praktica Super TL,  with a Sigma 17-35 mm lens, a f: 11 at  50 ISO (Velvia)

“Resisting”

A picture from the collection “Ghostly places” portraying some centenarian Mountain gall Oaks (Quercus faginea subsp. alpestris) surviving the extreme weather conditions in the highlands of the Sierra de Las Nieves in Malaga. The photo is made with slide film during a blizzard with fog that helped to highlight the eerie atmosphere of the place and the time.

Made with an analogue camera Minolta 5000, with a 70-210 Sigma lens, F:8 at 50 ISO (Velvia)

“Naïf Landscape on fire”

A picture composed of two images stitched together and cropped, to adapt the composition to the spectacular clouds in the sky over the bucolic “ nave” landscape, with its undulations,  dyed with oranges and green, crossed by rural roads and touches of white and pink, forming one of the best areas for photography of almond trees in Andalusia.  The imagen has been taken with an ISO of 400, due to the presence of strong winds.

Made with Full Frame camera, lens 24-70 mm F: 2. 8 at 45 mm, 400 ISO and F.11 and 1/5 s, polarizing and gradient grey filter.

“Sunset on the Flysch”

An image of the setting sun on a beach in the Basque country, between the peculiar forms of the Flysch, in the area of the Basque Coast Geopark, with the idyllic picture of the sun being contrasted by the unique slashed forms rocks of the flysch rocks, distributed evenly on the framing and crossed by the incoming and outgoing tide water. The author opted for a not too slow speed of exposure, to maintain the textures in the water.

Made with Full Frame camera, lens 24-70 mm F: 2. 8 at 34 mm, ISO 31 and F.16 and 2.5 s, polarizing filter and gradient grey filter.

“Paisaje naif encendido”

“Sky and beach waves on fire”

Image made in good company during a photography workshop of Al Andalus Photo Tour on a beach of Maro  Cerro Gordo at the Costa del Sol, Andalusia, with the enjoyment of the moment and the satisfaction of having been able to  bring the participants to the right place at the right time. The author has tried to find a balanced composition between rocks and shore and the essential setting sun (only a few weeks a year present in this framing) and through making numerous shots to capture the image with the best confluence with regard to proportions and forms between the elements.

Made with Full Frame camera, lens 24-70 mm F: 2. 8 at 26 mm, 100 ISO and F.16 and 1/3 s, polarizing filter.

“River of colours”

“River of colours”

An image of the singular Rio Tinto in Huelva, Andalusia, realized in good company during a photography workshop organized by Al Andalus Photo Tour in one of the most natural and wild areas of the river. The author tried to find a balance between elements and colours, using also the fleeting passage of high clouds in the atmosphere.

Taken with Full Frame camera, lens 24-70 mm F: 2. 8 at 28 mm, 100 ISO and F.16 and 1/8 s and polarizing filter.

GHOSTLY PLACES

Ghostly places” depicts, in a series of 15 prints, landscapes of the Andalusian geography in their most ghostly moments, whose peculiar places and formations are remnants of nature that still resists the “overcivilized ” Western society. They are metaphors of a rebellion against a predator consumer and capitalist system, with its unfair rules and its environmental and social destruction. The work reflects a personal search of the author as part of an unconscious rebellion against this model, to find answers in nature to the contradictions and doubts that this system subdues us.
